Mesa is Arizona's Third Largest City.
With a population of about 452,000 (2005), Mesa AZ is the third largest city in Arizona. Here's what is surprising; Mesa has surpassed such well-known cities as Miami Florida, Pittsburg PA, St. Louis MO and Minneapolis to become the 41st largest city in America.
Along with its neighbors of Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, Queen Creek and Apache Junction is better known as the "East Valley" in the Metropolitan Phoenix area. Mesa, pronounced "may-sah" means "table" in Spanish. Early settlers chose Mesa in 1877 for its beautiful setting within sight of the majestic Superstition Mountain.
Mesa itself has over 25 golf courses and hundreds more within a one-half hour driving distance. Nearby is an abundance of outdoor recreation among some of the most scenic landscape in Arizona. Both Canyon Lake and Saguaro Lake feature boating, fishing and water-skiing while the Salt River is a popular place to go "tubing" in the gentle rapids. Mesa is also the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs MLB Team.
Mesa is a suburban family community with a wide range of real estate to fit every lifestyle and budget from modest starter homes and condos to gated neighborhoods, golf course property, equestrian horse property and luxury estates.
